דורון סונסינו קיבל את תואר ה-Ph.D מבית הספר למנהל עסקים באוניברסיטת סטנפורד, קליפורניה בשנת 1995.לפני כן סיים בהצטיינות תואר שני בחקר ביצועים בבית הספר למנהל עסקים באוניברסיטת תל-אביב. תחומי המחקר העיקריים של דורון הם כלכלה ניסויית וקבלת החלטות בתנאי אי-וודאות.
